A CoE on Industry 4.0 at Visakhapatnam

Objective:To stimulate the establishment & growth of technology-based innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs & start-ups in Industry 4.0 (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Industrial Automation, Industrial Robotics, Industrial Drone, Industrial IoT, Industrial 3D Printing and other related technologies powered by AI) by providing necessary infrastructure, mentoring, marketing, funding and overall eco-system interconnecting all stakeholders.

Focus Areas: IIoT, Industrial Robots, Simulation, Systems Integration, Additive Manufacturing

Location: Rashtriya ISPAT Nigam Limited – Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL-VSP) at Visakhapatnam

Partners: Partners include the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Department of IT, Electronics & Communications (Govt. of AP), Rashtriya ISPAT Nigam Limited (RINLVSP), STPI, STPINEXT and partners from Academic & Industry

Target Beneficiaries: The CoE will nurture around 175 innovative start-ups.

Duration: The CoE is proposed to be operational for five years from the date of its operation.

Budget & Source of Funding: The CoE has a total budgetary outlay of ₹.20.32 crores shared by MeitY (Rs. 8.32 Cr), STPI (Rs. 1 Cr.), RINL-VSP (Rs. 9 Cr), and State Government of Andhra Pradesh (Rs. 2 Cr.)

Facilities & Services

  • Infrastructural Support - Ready to work Plug-n-Play incubation space along with high speed internet access. Industry 4.0 is well-equipped with all requisite laboratories, and commonly shared infrastructure facilities.
  • Mentorship - Creation of a mentor pool encompassing strategic, functional, and technological experts from various domains of Industry 4.0.
  • Funding & Investment - Kalpataru facilitates the interaction of start-ups with associated funding agencies, Government & Private agencies, PSUs, and other bodies for investment, grants, or soft loans.
  • Marketing Facilities - Kalpataru organizes events, showcases entrepreneurs in trade shows, and meets with the reputed business organization to market technologies & inventions by startups.
  • Legal & Statutory Facilities - Kalpataru also guides startups to file requisite intellectual property rights, including patenting (drafting and filing), trademarks, and copyright. It also provides other IPR-related legal/statutory support.
